-Stoodgill
-Chelladurai
-Senecal

Describe Tuckmans theory of group development

Suggested that to develop team cohesion there are 4 stages.
Forming:Team comes together and accept each other
Storming:Members may challenge each other anf have coonflict on ideas.
Norming: Team agrees on its goal and begin to trust each other
Performing:Team becomes focused on task as conflicts are resolved and members know their role within team

Describe Stodgill theory on leadership

Carried out a review on 124 studies and identified physical, personality and cognitive difference between leaders and non leaders.
- Some traits were linked to good leaders which were height appearance and intelligence which made uo for a good leader-More self confident and sociable.
However findings were not consistent

Describe Chelladurai multidimensional model of leadership

Suggested both behavior of leader and how successful depends on the situation.
The coach, situation and players are a factor to influencing the leaders behavior since there are prescribed behavior which is what the team requires. The actual behavior preferred behavior. the type of behavior that the team would want.
If the actual behavior matches the preferred behavior then the team will perform successfully and have a high satisfaction.

Senecal team goal setting

To improve team cohesion by giving responsibility for deciding on the teams goal for improvement in training.
86 female high school basketball players 14-18 years were in a set condition. Experimental group decided 4 most important skills to work on individually then in groups of 5 then as a team. Decided on what targets should be before and after.
Those who had input in deciding team goals had higher levels of both task and social cohesion than control group
